A courtroom drawing that will go on the cover for a concept book summarizing a film called "Lyrical." This book will recommend actors for the roles and it demonstrates the overall film esthetic. The film is about a Harvard law student, Joe (upper middle class African-American), who finds himself representing an African American teenager, Lyrical, charged with first degree murder in state court in Boston, MA. Lyrical is tough, yet also a poet. He is a talented spoken word artist. Joe is helped by Professor Ruth Alexander, a Harvard law professor who lost her own son to the criminal justice system (potential actresses for the Professor Alexander role are Audra McDonald, Vanessa Williams, and Tracie Elis Ross). The court room scene for the cover is Joe representing Lyrical at a hearing in front of Judge Montoya. The prosecutor is a deputy district attorney named Robert Dowdy. There is no jury. The scene could be just the judge, Lyrical, Joe, and the prosecutor, or it could also include the audience watching the hearing.

In addition to the drawing, I'd like the title - Lyrical - to be written in some way on the drawing. My hope is that the picture will evoke feelings of art and poetry.
